Our school

An international school

The Maria Montessori International School is located in the heart of Geneva's international district, close to permanent missions and various international organisations, and offers an international and multicultural environment in a green setting.

We are a private, bilingual French-English school for children aged three to six, of all nationalities and cultures. Our school is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all pupils and giving them all the keys they need to succeed in their academic and personal lives in a warm and caring environment with a human dimension.

We offer our pupils an international education, rrecognised worldwide by the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) and in Montessori schools around the world, including a programme of excellence using the Montessori pedagogy and a bilingual French-English education.

It's easy to make the transition to future public or public schools with a French, English or bilingual curriculum in Switzerland or abroad.

Our school promotes openness to the world, diversity and cultural richness, which are embodied by the children and our teaching staff from different countries and languages.

We attach great importance to our international community and to parents' commitment to the school's pedagogy.

A bilingual school

The Maria Montessori International School offers bilingual education in French and English and provides an inclusive environment for children from diverse cultural backgrounds. This can be an attractive option for families seeking an early bilingual education and multicultural experience for their children.

At our school, we welcome childrens who speak any language at any level. L’enfant de trois ans débutant sa scolarité est dans la période sensible de l’exploration et du langage articulé tel que décrit par Maria Montessori. Three-year-olds entering school are in the sensitive period of exploration and articulate language as described by Maria Montessori. Immersion in a bilingual environment will enable them to learn foreign languages at their own pace, thanks to their absorbing minds. We support pupils arriving at the age of four or five for whom French or English is an additional language.

Within the environment, two teachers speak their mother tongue and interact with the children on a daily basis.

We provide our pupils with a bilingual French-English Montessori programme in immersion and in line with the Plan d'Etudes Romand (PER), the curriculum for French-speaking Switzerland which defines what is taught to the pupils.

A unique school

World-renowned teaching methods

The Maria Montessori International School promotes international schooling based on the excellence of Maria Montessori's teaching methods and meets the requirements of the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale), which aims to respect the child and the developing human being and to help children develop in a bilingual environment for 3-6 year olds with AMI-recognised teachers.

An authentic Montessori school

A school recognised by the AMS - Association Montessori (Switzerland) and based on true Montessorian values, which follows the PER (Plan d'Etudes Romand).

Individual, personalised support

Students are placed at the heart of learning and benefit from a student-centred approach, based on their needs and pace of development.

An eco-friendly school

The Maria Montessori International School has created an educational environment that incorporates the principles of environmental sustainability, raising students' awareness of ecological issues and teaching them to become responsible citizens who are aware of their impact on the planet.

Pupils learn about environmental problems, possible solutions and individual and collective responsibility for preserving the planet.

The school strives to reduce its own environmental impact by adopting eco-responsible practices throughout the school, such as reducing water and energy consumption, waste management, recycling and reuse.

We encourage outdoor learning and the use of the natural environment as an extension of the classroom. This allows students to develop a deeper connection with nature.

The school chooses sustainable and environmentally friendly furniture materials and recyclable materials.

« True education rests on this principle: it is first and foremost about discovering the child and liberating him or her »

Why choose Maria Montessori International School?

  • Part-time formula for 3-year-olds

Our school has chosen to adapt as much as possible to the needs of children and families by offering a part-time formula for three-year-olds. We offer five mornings a week from 8.30 to 11.45.

Smooth transition: A half-time arrangement for the first year of school allows for a smooth transition by providing a balance between time spent at school and time at home. Children can gently adapt to their new environment, make their first experiences and start to build relationships with their peers and carers.

Reduced fatigue: Young children can be tired after a full day at school. A part-time formula can reduce fatigue, which can improve the quality of learning and enable children to absorb information better.

Maintaining family balance: A part-time arrangement may be more practical for families who need to

  • Organic, tasty, balanced lunches with the "Fourchette verte" label

  • Swimming lessons and Montessori Sports included

Introducing swimming and sport into the school environment has many benefits for the physical, mental and social health of pupils:

Improving physical fitness: Swimming and sport are physical activities that help to improve students' physical fitness. They encourage muscle development, flexibility and coordination.

Development of social skills: Sports activities encourage teamwork, communication and respect for rules, all of which strengthen students' social skills.

Boosting self-confidence: Mastering new sports skills, whether in swimming or other sports, boosts pupils' self-confidence and encourages them to take on new challenges.

  • After School Workshops

After School Workshops are a valuable complement to formal education for children. They promote holistic development by reinforcing skills, stimulating creativity, improving social skills and contributing to children's personal fulfilment.

These workshops offer children the opportunity to explore different activities and acquire new knowledge. Children learn to work both independently and as part of a team, share common interests and develop friendships, all of which contribute significantly to their social and emotional development.

  • Discounts for siblings

The school aims to strengthen family cohesion by providing families with financial relief by enrolling all their children in the same school, which can be emotionally and logistically beneficial.

A 15% discount is granted for the enrolment of the second child.

NB: The discount scale applies to parents who do not receive a contribution from their employer or a third party towards their child(ren)'s school fees. It does not apply to half-day children.
